B.V.B.COLLEGE
OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
Hubli - 580 031
Mighty institutions like mighty rivers, have humble beginnings. In 1915
when the K. L. E. Society came into existence the circumstances were
hardly favourable. The then British Government had lukewarm sympathy,
and the poverty stricken masses had feeble capability for such ventures.
It was the missionary zeal of a few veteran educationists like the late
Prof. S.S.Basavanal, Late Shri H.F.Kattimani, Late Shri B.B.Mamadapur,
Late Prof.M.R.Sakhare, Late Shri P.R.Chikodi, Late Shri V.V.Patil and
the Late Shri B.S.Hanchinal that made the establishment of the K.L.E.Society
possible, in spite of all the odds. Thanks to the spirit of service
and sacrifice of those pioneers, the society has progressed by leaps
and bounds in the course of these decades and has come to rank among
the best educational societies of our country. It is a premier educational
Society in this part of the country, having to its credit as many as
50 educational institutions, right from the pre-primary stage to the
Post Graduate level, both in Karnataka and neighbouring states. Manned
by competent academicians of repute, these institutions are providing
education to thousands of knowledge thirsty students.
Amongst the many coloured flowers borne by the Society, the place of
pride and eminence goes to the Red Rose, the B.V.B.COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
AND TECHNOLOGY, HUBLI.
FUNDING
Our College is a Government Aided Institution. The college gets regular
grants from the State and Central Governments for the purchase of equipments,
books, construction of buildings & recurring expenses. The college is
funded also by the K.L.E.Society & other philanthrophic organizations.
The Central Government is also funding visits by experts from national
bodies.
The K.L.E.Society's B.V.Bhoomraddi
College of Engineering and Technology was founded in 1946
at Gadag largely out of the donation of Shri B.V.Bhoomraddi, the philanthrophic
industrialist of Karnataka, in whose name the college stands. From
its nucleus as a Polytechnic it was shifted to Hubli in 1947 and later
on elevated to the status of a degree institution in 1947-48.
The college campus extends over an area of fifty acres on the Poona-Bangalore
road within 4 k.m. from Hubli Railway Station. Within a span of two
decades of development, the institution has out-grown its small original
